Holosun Thermal Red Dot II

Let’s read the comments section… “You haven’t seen it, you don’t have a clue.” In situations like this, a lesser man would double down. So instead I’ll quadruple down. My last Holosun thermal video got 100’s of comments of guys saying that I was wrong, that I didn’t understand the advantages that the DRS-TH offered (being both a red dot with a thermal overlay). They said this optic would be an affordable way for people to gain a robust low light shooting capability without springing for a PVS14 or a higher end thermal scope. Other critics felt like I unfairly compared the Holosun to much more expensive units. The high volume of negative comments and criticism I got from my […]

God and Guns

The pop culture view of Christianity sees Jesus as a meek and mild pacifist. By extension, some argue, that owning and using firearms for self defense goes against Jesus’ other teaching his people to turn the other cheek if someone slaps them (Matthew 5:38-40). Well, I guess that settles it. No, not really. Jesus also instructed his disciples to go buy and carry a sword. And, if the disciples didn’t own a sword, Jesus told them to go sell their coat and buy a weapon (Luke 22:36). Jesus’ two statements are not a contradiction; they’re rules of engagement. Together, these two statements form a way for Christians to interact in the world. Taken together Jesus is telling us to carry […]

Holosun DRS-NV (Night Vision Sight)

The idea behind the Holosun DRS line is to provide an affordable low-light solution to the civilian firearms market. In a world where ar15s have become very commonplace to the point of being boring, low light technology in the form of thermal and night vision optics have become the new frontier for prepared citizens to explore. The rise in 1st-person shooter video games, GWOT veterans returning home, and online bodycam footage of military and police actions have increased public demand for NVG. Public awareness of low light devices has greatly increased, but the devices are still rare and expensive. The Holosun DRS line looks to capitalize on this high level of interest and high financial barrier to entry by creating […]

Holosun DRS-TH Thermal Reflex Sight

Holosun DRS-TH Thermal Reflex Sight Color: Black Reticle: Multi Refresh Rate: 50 Hz Resolution: 256×192 pixels = 49,152 AGM Rattler TS25 384 50 hz refresh 384 x 288 pixels = 110,592 BUYER BEWARE! Don’t Buy a Holosun DRS-TH Until You Watch This Any man in America who watched Predator! or has played Call of Duty understands why low light technology is cool (cutaway to COD). (meme of portland man) Of course, some men don’t like guns… but those men wear scarfs, get their nails done and wear masks with pronouns, so maybe this video isn’t for everyone. Unfortunately, seeing in the dark is expensive, which is probably why everyone got so excited about Holosun getting into the low light game […]

Faraday Cage Gun Safe

Faraday Cage Gun Safe The documentary Grid Down, Power Up along with books like One Second After highlight the need to take EMP seriously. Whether caused by direct enemy action, nuclear war or a natural disaster, an EMP could wipe out any and all electronic devices you may have. Society is built on computers and electronics, so logical people know that a CONUS EMP event means Without Rule Of Law (WORL) and maybe the end of the world. T-Shirts Available NOW Shirts available!Buy a T-Shirt Here An EMP would fry red dots, holographics, night vision and thermal optics. Ironically, a post-EMP world is exactly the time I’d want all of those devices. I’ve seen content on faraday bags, faraday cages […]

Sig ECHO3 Thermal Reflex Sight

Disclaimer: Limitless America loaned me their Sig ECHO3 so I could make this video. After I’d tried it out a bit, I pulled the owner aside and asked him if he wanted me to publish this, or just be like: “if you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all.” To their credit, Limitless America told me to be brutally honest. If you find this video helpful, go to their website and buy a thermal rifle scope (not an ECHO) as a way to say thanks to them. It might seem like I’m being mean-spirited, but this review is based on verifiable facts and I will screenshot everything for you. The specs on the Sig are bad, and my personal […]

AGM Rattler TS-25 384

Today we’re reviewing the AGM Rattler TS25 384 Core. For comparison, I’ll also include B-Roll from other thermal and night vision devices. For clarity, I’ll put notes on the screen at times where a different device is being used. Since quality and value is always relative to competitors, I’m comparing the Rattler against the Sig ECHO3 and the iRay RICO 640 core. Context: I’m a civilian with a rural homestead. I hunt for meat and to protect livestock from predators. But, my mindset leans more toward preparedness and less toward hunting as a primary pursuit. Disclosures: I used the AGM Rattler for a few weeks, but I haven’t (yet) put one through years of rigorous testing. Also, Limitless America loaned […]

Night Vision Vs Thermal

When it coms to low light, there’s rarely a perfect answer; only a series of compromises. Sometimes the compromises are about money and availability, but these compromises are also about limitations of certain families of technology. What’s right for you will vary based on your needs, budget and the exact scenario that arises. What you think will be perfect for you may turn out to have unanticipated drawbacks in the imperfect “real world” that you’re presented with. In the first part of this series, I’ll be making the argument for why thermal is a better place to start on your journey to own the night. In the next video, I’ll make a case for why night vision is the way […]

Holosun Thermal Red Dot

Holosun Thermal Red Dot (DRS) Almost every gun guy under age 40 has heard that Holosun is coming out with a thermal reflex sight. This company provides decent quality red dot sights that seem to work and be much cheaper than top tier stuff from Eotech and Aimpoint. Are they “just as good” as Navy Seal helicopter sniper equipment. No. But, for many use cases this brand is good enough. Video games like Call Of Duty and our drive for self-preservation have catapulted night vision and thermal imaging into mainstream gun culture. The only reason why everyone doesn’t have low light capability is that both night vision and thermal units are shockingly expensive. Affordable PVS14’s and thermal rifle scopes are […]

Improvised Night Vision

Improvised Night Vision If you’re anything like me, you either have night vision or want it; for all of the usual reasons. Whether you have Gen 3 filmless dual tubes, low budget digital, or nothing at all: we’re all know that a lot of bad things happen when it’s dark outside. NVG is a super power that you can buy, and it’s becoming much more common for both civilians as well as state level actors. Potentially hostile dudes with glowing eyes who can magically see in the dark raises some interesting personal security concerns. I’ve been thinking about this problem a lot so let’s discuss some ideas surrounding this topic. FYI, I’m just a random dude on the internet and […]
